Root Canal Treatment is needed when blood or nerve supply of the tooth (known as the pulp) is infected through decay or injury. The infection may spread and may eventually lead to an abscess. If RCT is not carried out, the tooth may need to be pulled out. It is a skilled and time consuming procedure. Most courses of treatment will involve two or more visits to your dentist. At the first appointment, the infected pulp is removed. The root canal is then cleaned and shaped ready for the filling. A temporary filling is inserted and the tooth is left to settle. When all the infection has cleared, the tooth is permanently filled. It is advisable to restore the tooth with a crown to provide extra support and strength to the tooth.
Dental implants are artificial roots which support and retain prosthetic teeth. They are the most consistent and lasting way to replace missing teeth. Dental implants have been used in dentistry for decades with great results.
There are various protocols used for implant dentistry. These are the most common and the methods we use at DENTAL ROOTS.
> One-Stage Dental ImplantsThis method is highly successful if used on the right type of case. This method depends on finding ideal conditions after a thorough diagnostic. One stage dental implants tend to be most successful on front teeth. Additionally, they are great for totally edentulous jaws which can take four to six implants and be restored immediately.
> Two-Stage Dental ImplantsThis is the most common implant method used at DENTAL ROOTS. Due to the healing period between the first and second stage, the body is able to create a strong junction between the titanium dental implants and the bone structure, resulting in a longer-lasting restoration. The two stages are usually completed in a time period of four to six months. We use only the finest materials available.
There are several different ways of restoring teeth, the most common being a filling. Crowns are used to repair badly decayed, broken or severely discolored teeth or teeth that are not properly aligned. A crown is an artificial covering for the tooth and can be made out of several different types of material. The tooth under the crown is reduced in size, over which the crown will be permanently cemented. Similarly for a bridge the two teeth adjoining the missing space are reduced. Crown & bridges can be made of porcelain, gold or a combination of metal and porcelain or gold and porcelain. Crowns & bridges look just like regular teeth and no one but you and your dentist will know which tooth is yours and which one is artificial.

In this case, the tooth needs to be extracted.
These days a lot of children as they grow find that their permanent teeth are not growing in the right position. There are many reasons for this but one should remember that this type of situation is preventable & treatable. Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry which corrects teeth and jaws that are positioned improperly. Crooked teeth and teeth that do not fit together correctly are harder to keep clean, are at risk of being lost early due to tooth decay and periodontal disease, and cause extra stress on the chewing muscles that can lead to headaches, TMJ syndrome and neck, shoulder and back pain. Teeth that are crooked & not in the right place can also detract from one’s appearance. The benefits of orthodontic treatment include a healthier mouth, a more pleasing appearance and teeth that are more likely to last a lifetime. Orthodontic treatment can start as early as 7-8 years depending on the severity of the abnormality. At this age Myo-functional appliances are given to correct the jaw growth discrepancies & to correct the oral habits. Adult braces are quite common these days as people who for some reasons were unable to wear the braces in childhood or adolescence can now smile with confidence! There are a few options available which have been discussed below: Types of braces
> Traditional Metal Braces
Traditional metal braces are the most common type of braces and are more comfortable today than ever before. Made of high-grade stainless steel, metal braces straighten your teeth using metal brackets and arch-wires. With metal braces, you have the option of adding colored elastics (rubber bands) for a more unique and colorful smile. These are the cheapest of all the types.
> Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces are made of clear materials and are therefore less visible on your teeth than metal braces. For this reason, ceramic braces are used mainly on older teenagers and adult patients who have cosmetic concerns. While they are visually less prominent, they do require more attention to oral hygiene as ceramic braces are larger and are more brittle than their metal counterparts. These braces are slightly more expensive than the metal braces.
> Lingual Braces
Lingual braces are hidden behind the teeth and are therefore “invisible” when you smile. Lingual braces are 100% customized to match the shape of your teeth and therefore the metal appliances are created uniquely for you. Lingual braces are a very reasonable option for athletes, models, actors/actresses, musicians who play wind instruments, and adult professionals. We take pride as the first ones to introduce this technique in the region. These braces are more expensive than the above two types.
Invisalign/Clearpath use a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners to straighten your teeth. Not only are the aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment, plus brushing and flossing are less of a hassle. The aligners are comfortable and have no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. These types of braces are the most expensive of the treatment options.
